Clive Staples Lewis (November 29, 1898 – November 22, 1963), commonly referred to as C. S. Lewis and known to his friends and family as "Jack", was a novelist, academic, medievalist, literary critic, essayist, lay theologian and Christian apologist from Belfast, Ireland. He is known for his fictional work, especially The Screwtape Letters, The Chronicles of Narnia and The Space Trilogy.

Lewis was a close friend of J. R. R. Tolkien, and both authors were leading figures in the English faculty at Oxford University and in the informal Oxford literary group known as the "Inklings". According to his memoir Surprised by Joy, Lewis had been baptised in the Church of Ireland (part of the Anglican Communion) at birth, but fell away from his faith during his adolescence. Owing to the influence of Tolkien and other friends, at the age of 32 Lewis returned to the Anglican Communion, becoming "a very ordinary layman of the Church of England". His faith had a profound effect on his work, and his wartime radio broadcasts on the subject of Christianity brought him wide acclaim.

In 1956 he married the American writer Joy Gresham, 17 years his junior, who died four years later of cancer at the age of 45. Lewis died three years after his wife, as the result of renal failure. His death came one week before his 65th birthday. Media coverage of his death was minimal, as he died on November 22, 1963 – the same day that U.S. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, and the same day another famous author, Aldous Huxley, died. Lewis's works have been translated into more than 30 languages and have sold millions of copies. The books that make up The Chronicles of Narnia have sold the most and have been popularised on stage, TV, radio and cinema.

Julie Miller's first secular album, Blue Pony, combines the exquisite Appalachiana of
Gillian Welch with the whispery confessionalism of Lisa Loeb. Julie and her husband
Buddy sing on each other's albums and work with the same pool of musicians. Together
they have released two of the best country discs of the decade. As good as Buddy's album
was, Julie's is even better. She has a high, small soprano that evokes the emotional
transparency of a teenage girl, but she's been through the love wars enough times to
recognize the moment "when the lie comes down like a kiss on the lips." A strain of
spirituality runs through the album that hints at her background in Christian music, and
like Sam Phillips, Julie makes her religious concerns so down-to-earth that it's

BLUE PONY, Miller's debut record on Hightone (her previous effort was on a small,
Christian-oriented label) places her as a kind of quirky alternative-Americana artist.
Think of a rootsy Victoria Williams, whose voice Miller often brings to mind. As if to
purposely move past the "country" label, BLUE PONY starts off strong with a rocker, "A
Kiss On the Lips," with its understated energy and Hammond B-3 backing. The next song
"Take Me Back," is a high lonesome duet with Julie's husband and co-producer, Hightone
recording artist Buddy Miller. It recalls the kind of Appalachian folk songs that lie at
the roots of commercial country music.

While BLUE PONY does feature guest appearances by some big names (both Emmylou Harris
and Steve Earle contribute their talents), the real star here is Miller's voice, a slightly helium-laced affair that you'll either find completely irresistible or somewhat annoying. What makes her singing remarkable, though, is her ability to suggest girlish innocence while singing about a deep kind of evil.

Phil Keaggy (born Philip Tyler Keaggy, in Youngstown, Ohio on March 23, 1951) is an American acoustic and electric guitarist and vocalist who has released more than 50 albums and contributed to many more recordings in both the contemporary Christian music and mainstream markets. He is a seven-time recipient of the GMA Dove Award for Instrumental Album of the Year, and was twice nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album. He has frequently been listed as one of the world's top-three "finger-style," as well as "finger-picking," guitarists by Guitar Player Magazine readers' polls.

In 1973 Keaggy released What A Day, his first solo album. The songs were written while Keaggy was still with Glass Harp Keaggy performed all the instruments on the album. The title track remains a staple of Keaggy's concerts up to the present day.

Keaggy married his wife Bernadette in the summer of 1973. He then took a brief hiatus from recording on his own and only toured in support of other artists like Love Song, 2nd Chapter of Acts, Paul Clark, and Nancy Honeytree. Years later, Amboy Dukes guitarist Ted Nugent was quoted as saying "I don't know what happened to that Phil Keaggy. He could have saved the world with his guitar."

Keaggy returned to the studio in 1976 with Love Broke Thru, an album which included his version of a song that would eventually be considered a classic in Christian Music: "Your Love Broke Through." Written by Keith Green, Todd Fishkind and Randy Stonehill, the song would later be closely identified with Green, yet it was at Green's insistence that Keaggy's rendition be the first released recording.[8] A longtime fan of C.S. Lewis, Keaggy also included an arranged version of the author's poem "As the Ruin Falls." Keaggy's album was listed as #64 in the 2001 book, CCM Presents: The 100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music.

During the summer of 1977 Keaggy went on an eighteen-city tour of the western United States with 2nd Chapter of Acts and "a Band called David." This tour was captured in the subsequent live triple album How the West Was One, a collection that featured concert renditions of "What a Day" and "Your Love Broke Through." That same year also saw the formation of the Phil Keaggy Band. Comprising Keaggy, guitarist Lynn Nichols, keyboardist Phil Madeira, bassist Dan Cunningham and drummer Terry Andersen, the Phil Keaggy Band released their lone album in 1977, Emerging. 1977 also marked the release of the Glass Harp compilation album, Song in the Air.

In 1978, Keaggy released his first critically acclaimed instrumental album entitled The Master and the Musician. It would go on to become the best-selling album of his career. A 1989 reissue of the album included a new track, "Epilogue: Amazing Grace."

Henry Allan Hartley (October 25, 1921, Kearny, New Jersey, United States – May 27, 2003, Fort Myers, Florida), known professionally as Al Hartley, was an American comic book writer-artist known for his work on Archie Comics, Atlas Comics (the 1950s precursor of Marvel Comics), and many Christian comics. He received an Inkpot Award at the 1980 San Diego Comic-Con.

Hartley was the son of Congressman Frederick Allan Hartley, Jr. (Republican from New Jersey), co-author of the Taft-Hartley Act of 1947.

In 1967, feeling "sterile, numb, and filled with fear", Hartley became a born again Christian, as did his wife, Hermine, and, years later, their children, Alana and Fred. At the time, he was among several artists who drew the black-and-white, "nudie cutie" secret-agent feature, "The Adventures of Pussycat", that ran in some of Marvel publisher Martin Goodman's men's magazines; Hartley told the publisher he couldn't continue.

He began writing and drawing for Archie Comics, infusing some of the stories with his Christian beliefs. At one point he was directed to cut back. "I knew God was in control, so I respected my publisher's position and naturally complied". He later received a call from publisher Fleming H. Revell, for whom he then freelanced a comic-book adaptation of David Wilkerson The Cross and the Switchblade in 1972, quickly followed by adaptations of God's Smuggler by the pseudonymous Brother Andrew and The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. Inspired, Hartley helped launch the Spire Christian Comics line, and pitched Archie president John L. Goldwater to let him license the Archie guys 'n' gals. The Jewish Goldwater, himself religious, agreed, and Spire went on to release 59 comics — at least 19 of them Archie titles — as well as six Bible stories, 12 biography adaptations, four other book or movie adaptations (including Hansi: The Girl Who Loved the Swastika), and nine children's comics.

Profile: Rachel Scott

Rachel Joy Scott (August 5, 1981 – April 20, 1999) was the first victim of the Columbine High School massacre, which claimed the lives of 12 students, one teacher and the two perpetrators, in one of the deadliest high school shootings in United States history.

She has since been the subject of several books and is the inspiration for Rachel's Challenge, a nationwide school outreach program for the prevention of teen violence, based on her life and writings. The program's speakers include her father, Darrell Scott, and brothers, Craig and Mike Scott. Her mother, Beth Nimmo, has also authored books and is the speaker for Rachel Joy Scott Ministries, to perpetuate her daughter's legacy.

At the time of her death, the 17-year old Columbine High School junior was an aspiring writer and actress. She had the leading role in a student-written play. Described as a devout Christian by her mother, she was active as a youth group leader at Orchard Road Christian Center Church near Littleton and was known for her friendliness and compassionate nature. Rachel left behind six diaries and several essays about her belief in God and how she wanted to change the world through small acts of kindness. Shortly before her death, Rachel wrote an essay for school stating, “I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion then it will start a chain reaction of the same.” Some sources claim that the journal Rachel kept shared some similarities to Anne Frank's famous diary. Both girls preached compassion and care.

Christian Knight Response: The Norway Tragedy

First, we here at Christian Knight Media wish to offer our condolences to the victims and families of the recent massacre and bombing in Norway. Our prayers are with them all at this time.

We have recently discovered that the accused gunman and bombing suspect has used the name “Christian Knight” to spread his hate and used that term in his delusional writings. We here at Christian Knight denounce any use of that name in relation to kill, spread hate and bring about any destruction of property.

For centuries, the term of Christian Knight has been both a title of reverence and of disdain.

Concerning our use of the term, we do not take sides about the issues of this world, both politically or religiously.

We have made it very clear that we are not affiliated with any religious denomination or political party.

The use of the name Christian Knight and even our Christian Superhero characters are NOT to be used to evoke any literal militant attack or hate against any other human being for their race or political or religious views.

We believe that the battle for the world’s survival is BOTH Spiritual and Physical and believe that Christians should arm themselves with the Power of God’s Love, the Wisdom of God’s Word and the Strength of the Holy Spirit through prayer and living by example. To use their faith and talents to help change the world and NOT cause pain and death to innocent men, women and children.

If we have presented any of our hero characters with weapons (swords, guns, shield, etc.) it is not to be taken literal. We have tried to explain the spiritual and supernatural significance of such weapons in the battle against evil. Our Christian Superheroes are NOT killers but use those weapons to help protect and defend innocent people and stop villains or would-be world conquerors from spreading evil. In the same way as pastors and true Christians stand up to evil with writing against it, preaching, using other talents for God and living a life of faith. And, also, in the same way that other comic book superheroes are presented to help others with the exception that our characters have powers and abilities from God.

Also, many wars have been fought, like WWII that was engaged for the greater good, when evil rose up to take over the world and many soldiers that fought against it were Christians. There are police officers who must patrol our streets and fight crime everyday that are Christians. But fighting dictators, terrorists and armies or crime, gangs and street thugs is NOT the same as shooting children in a camp or bombing government buildings in a terrorist rant.

Again, our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims in Norway. Words cannot express the horror that is felt over there at this time. We firmly denounce any further hate speech or attacks against anyone claiming they do such in the name of Christ.

A true Christian Knight is the one who would not kill innocent people or write a book of hate but help others and take a stand and stop the spread of this form of prejudice in the name of Christ.

Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis

Mere Christianity is a theological book by C. S. Lewis, adapted from a series of BBC radio talks made between 1941 and 1944, while Lewis was at Oxford during World War II. Considered a classic of Christian apologetics, the transcripts of the broadcasts originally appeared in print as three separate pamphlets: The Case for Christianity (1942), Christian Behaviour (1942), and Beyond Personality (1944). Lewis was invited to give the talks by Rev. James Welch, the BBC Director of Religious Broadcasting, who had read his 1940 book, The Problem of Pain.

Lewis, an Anglican, intended to describe the Christian common ground. In Mere Christianity, he aims at avoiding controversies to explain fundamental teachings of Christianity, for the sake of those basically educated as well as the intellectuals of his generation, for whom the jargon of formal Christian theology did not retain its original meaning.

In 2006, Mere Christianity was placed third in Christianity Today's list of the most influential books amongst evangelicals since 1945. The title has influenced Touchstone Magazine: A Journal of Mere Christianity and William Dembski's book Mere Creation. Charles Colson's conversion to Christianity resulted from his reading this book, as it did to Francis Collins, Josh Caterer and the philosopher C. E. M. Joad.

A passage in the book also influenced the name of contemporary Christian Texan Grammy-nominated pop/rock group Sixpence None the Richer. The phrase, "the hammering process" was used by Christian metal band Living Sacrifice for the name of their album The Hammering Process. Metalcore band, Norma Jean, derived the title of their song "No Passenger: No Parasite" from the section in the book in which Lewis describes a fully Christian society as having "No passengers or parasites". Singer Brooke Fraser wrote the "C.S.Lewis Song" from the album Albertine, which is heavily indebted to Lewis's works, including the lyrics "If I find in myself desires nothing in this world can satisfy / I can only conclude that I was not made for here."

The Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer

The Cost of Discipleship is a book by the German Theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, considered a classic of Christian thought. The original German title is simply Nachfolge (Discipleship). It is centred around an exposition of the Sermon on the Mount, in which Bonhoeffer spells out what he believes it means to follow Christ. It was first published in 1937, when the rise of the Nazi regime was underway in Germany and against this background that Bonhoeffer's theology of costly discipleship developed, which ultimately led to his death.

One of the most quoted parts of the book deals with the distinction which Bonhoeffer makes between "cheap" and "costly" grace. But what is "cheap" grace? In Bonhoeffer's words:

"cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline. Communion without confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ."

Or, even more clearly, it is to hear the gospel preached as follows: "Of course you have sinned, but now everything is forgiven, so you can stay as you are and enjoy the consolations of forgiveness." The main defect of such a proclamation is that it contains no demand for discipleship. In contrast to this is costly grace:

"costly grace confronts us as a gracious call to follow Jesus, it comes as a word of forgiveness to the broken spirit and the contrite heart. It is costly because it compels a man to submit to the yoke of Christ and follow him; it is grace because Jesus says: "My yoke is easy and my burden is light." "

Bonhoeffer argues that as Christianity spread, the Church became more "secularised", accommodating the demands of obedience to Jesus to the requirements of society. In this way, "the world was Christianised, and grace became its common property." But the hazard of this was that the gospel was cheapened, and obedience to the living Christ was gradually lost beneath formula and ritual, so that in the end, grace could literally be sold for monetary gain.

But all the time, within the church, there had been a living protest against this process: the monastic movement. This served as a "place where the older vision was kept alive." Unfortunately, "monasticism was represented as an individual achievement which the mass of the laity could not be expected to emulate"; the commandments of Jesus were limited to "a restricted group of specialists" and a double standard arose: "a maximum and a minimum standard of church obedience." Why was this dangerous? Bonhoeffer points out that whenever the church was accused of being too worldly, it could always point to monasticism as "the opportunity of a higher standard within the fold - and thus justify the other possibility of a lower standard for others." So the monastic movement, instead of serving as a pointer for all Christians, became a justification for the status quo.

Bonhoeffer remarks how this was rectified by Luther at the Reformation, when he brought Christianity "out of the cloister". However, he thinks that subsequent generations have again cheapened the preaching of the forgiveness of sins, and this has seriously weakened the church: "The price we are having to pay today in the shape of the collapse of the organised church is only the inevitable consequence of our policy of making grace available to all at too low a cost. We gave away the word and sacraments wholesale, we baptised, confirmed, and absolved a whole nation without condition. Our humanitarian sentiment made us give that which was holy to the scornful and unbelieving... But the call to follow Jesus in the narrow way was hardly ever heard."

Foxe's Book of Martyrs

The Book of Martyrs, by John Foxe, is an account of Christian martyrs throughout Western history from the 1st century through the early 16th centuries, emphasising the sufferings of English Protestants and proto-Protestants from the 14th century through the reign of Mary I. First published in 1563 by the Protestant John Day, the book was lavishly produced and illustrated with many woodcuts and was the largest publishing project undertaken in Britain up to that time. Commonly known as Foxe's Book of Martyrs, one fuller title of the work is Actes and Monuments of these Latter and Perillous Days, Touching Matters of the Church. Widely owned and read by English Puritans, the book helped mould British popular opinion about the nature of Catholicism for several centuries.

Published early in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I and only five years after the death of the Roman Catholic Queen Mary I, Foxe's Book of Martyrs was an affirmation of the Protestant Reformation in England during a period of religious conflict between Catholics and Protestants. Because the English monarch was the temporal head of the Church of England, a change in ruler could change the legal status of religious practice. Adherents of the rejected faith risked persecution by the State, and during the reign of Mary I, non-Catholics were publicly burned at the stake. Foxe's account of these martyrdoms contributed significantly to a nationalistic repudiation of the Roman Catholic Church and asserted a historical justification intended to establish the Church of England as a continuation of the true Christian church rather than a modern innovation.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945)

Dietrich Bonhoeffer (German pronunciation: [ˈdiːtʁɪç ˈboːnhœfɐ]; February 4, 1906 – April 9, 1945) was a German Lutheran pastor, theologian and martyr. He was also a participant in the German resistance movement against Nazism and a founding member of the Confessing Church. His involvement in plans by members of the Abwehr (the German Military Intelligence Office) to assassinate Adolf Hitler resulted in his arrest in April 1943 and his subsequent execution by hanging in April 1945, 23 days before the Nazis' surrender. His view of Christianity's role in the secular world has become very influential.

On April 6, 1943, Bonhoeffer and Dohnanyi were arrested not because of their conspiracy but because of long-standing rivalry between SS and Abwehr for intelligence fiefdom. One of the informers of Abwehr, Wilhelm Schmidhuber, was arrested by the Gestapo for involvement in a private currency affair. In the subsequent investigations the Gestapo uncovered Dohnanyi's operation in which 14 Jews were sent to Switzerland ostensibly as Abwehr agents and large sums in foreign currency were paid to them as compensation for confiscated properties. The Gestapo, which had been looking for information to discredit Abwehr, sensed that they had a corruption case against Dohnanyi and searched his office at Abwehr where they discovered notes revealing Bonhoeffer's foreign contacts and other documents related to the anti-Hitler conspiracy. One of them was a note that discussed plans for a journey by Bonhoeffer to Rome, where he would explain to church leaders why the assassination attempts on Hitler in March 1943 had failed. Nevertheless, Bonhoeffer's involvement in assassination plots was not known by the Gestapo as Abwehr succeeded in explaining away the most damaging documents as official coded Military Intelligence materials. Dohnanyi and Bonhoeffer were, however, suspected of subverting Nazi policy toward Jews and misusing Abwehr for inappropriate purposes. Bonhoeffer was suspected of evading military call-up, using Abwehr to circumvent Gestapo injunction against public speaking and staying in Berlin, and using Abwehr to further Confessing Church works, amongst other charges.

The Missionaries of Operation Auca

Operation Auca was an attempt by five Evangelical Christian missionaries from the United States to bring the gospel to the Huaorani people of the rainforest of Ecuador. The Huaorani, also known by the pejorative Aucas (a modification of awqa, the Quechua word for "enemies"), were an isolated tribe known for their violence, against both their own people and outsiders who entered their territory. With the intention of being the first Christians to evangelize the previously uncontacted Huaorani, the missionaries began making regular flights over Huaorani settlements in September 1955, dropping gifts. After several months of exchanging gifts, on January 3, 1956, the missionaries established a camp at "Palm Beach", a sandbar along the Curaray River, a few kilometres from Huaorani settlements. Their efforts came to an end on January 8, 1956, when all five—Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, Ed McCully, Peter Fleming, and Roger Youderian—were attacked and speared by a group of Huaorani warriors. The news of their deaths was broadcast around the world, and Life magazine covered the event with a photo essay.

The deaths of the men galvanized the missionary effort in the United States, sparking an outpouring of funding for evangelization efforts around the world. Their work is still frequently remembered in evangelical publications, and in 2006 was the subject of the film production End of the Spear. Several years after the death of the men, the widow of Jim Elliot, Elisabeth, and the sister of Nate Saint, Rachel, returned to Ecuador as missionaries with the Summer Institute of Linguistics (now SIL International) to live among the Huaorani. This eventually led to the conversion of many, including some of those involved in the killing. While largely eliminating tribal violence, their efforts exposed the tribe to exploitation and increased influence from the outside.

Martyrs of Japan

The Martyrs of Japan were Christians who were persecuted for their faith in Japan, mostly during the 17th century.

The shogunate and imperial government at first supported the Catholic mission and the missionaries, thinking that they would reduce the power of the Buddhist monks, and help trade with Spain and Portugal. However, the Shogunate was also wary of colonialism, seeing that in the Philippines the Spanish had taken power after converting the population. The government increasingly saw Roman Catholicism as a threat, and started persecuting Christians. Christianity was banned and those Japanese who refused to abandon their faith were killed.

On February 5, 1597, twenty-six Christians—six European Franciscan missionaries, three Japanese Jesuits and seventeen Japanese laymen including three young boys—were executed by crucifixion in Nagasaki. These individuals were raised on crosses and then pierced through with spears.

Persecution continued sporadically, breaking out again in 1613 and 1630. On September 10, 1632, 55 Christians were martyred in Nagasaki in what became known as the Great Genna Martyrdom. At this time Roman Catholicism was officially outlawed. The Church remained without clergy and theological teaching disintegrated until the arrival of Western missionaries in the nineteenth century.

FROM THE INTRODUCTION: "We started this special collection of poetry based on the hymns of faith determined to combine the rich, spiritual heritage of the hymns with contemporary settings, people and events into a series of poems that would find hope in hopelessness, strength in weakness and love in the unlovable. Inspired years ago to do an ode to the hymns after attending a church worship service, we began to view them not only as songs but as poetry, realizing how fascinating they truly are.

"It is songs like "At The Cross", "I Surrender All", "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "Amazing Grace" in which we pay tribute in this collection. You'll notice the change in song titles and the rearrangement of them in a different perspective. We even incorporated some lines from the hymns within the poems themselves as hints to the messages being conveyed. So, you have a greater explanation to most of what we have done. It's not always good to reveal too much of one's artwork to an audience at hand but its always helpful when presenting a new idea that otherwise would only cause others to scratch their heads. It was both exciting and rewarding digging deep into the foundations to which Contemporary Christian music and the world owes a debt.

Jars of Clay is a Christian rock band from Nashville, Tennessee. They met at Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois.

Jars of Clay consists of Dan Haseltine on vocals, Charlie Lowell on piano and keyboards, Stephen Mason on lead guitars and Matthew Odmark on rhythm guitars. Although the band has no permanent drummer or bassist, Jeremy Lutito and Gabe Ruschival of Disappointed By Candy fill these roles for live concerts. Past tour band members include Aaron Sands, Scott Savage, and Joe Porter. Jake Goss was recently added to the band to play drums for their summer tour. Jars of Clay's style is a blend of alternative rock, folk, acoustic, and R&B.

The band's name is derived from the New International Version's translation of 2 Corinthians 4:7: “ But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.”

This verse is paraphrased in their song "Four Seven", which appears as a hidden track on the CD release of their self-titled album.

Ten Shekel Shirt is a Christian rock band based in New Haven, CT. The band was founded by Lamont Hiebert, and currently consists of Hiebert along with Jonny Rodgers, Colin Meyer and Tim Sway.

In 2000, Hiebert wrote, recorded and co-produced the album Much. Before releasing the album Hiebert recruited Austin Morrison (drums) and Tommy Lee (bass) to fill out the band. The independent release of that album sparked the attention of Integrity Music who then signed Hiebert. Much sold 130,000 units, was nominated for a Dove Award and featured the #1 hit "Ocean".

Aileen Nicole Coleman-Mullen (born January 3, 1964) is an award-winning singer, songwriter, and choreographer. She was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She recorded her first solo album, Don’t Let Me Go, in 1991 with the independent label Frontline Records.

Mullen continued her singing-songwriting-choreography career in the 1990s, singing backup for Michael W. Smith and the Newsboys, writing for Jaci Velasquez, and working as a dancer/choreographer with Amy Grant. She also provided backup vocals for the music video at the end of the VeggieTales program, Larry-Boy and the Fib from Outer Space! and the opening of the VeggieTales presentation, Larry-Boy and the Rumor Weed. Point of Grace is an all-female Contemporary Christian music group. The trio consists of Shelley Breen, Denise Jones, and Leigh Cappillino. The group started out as a quartet in 1991, with original members Breen and Jones, as well as Terry Jones and Heather Payne. In November 2003, Terry Jones decided she needed to spend more time with her family after giving birth to her third child, and left the group, with Cappillino joining in March 2004 for their 2004 release I Choose You. In June 2008, Payne announced her retirement from the group, in order to spend more time with her husband and four children.

The group's debut self-titled album was released in 1993; since then, they have been recognized as one of the top Contemporary Christian music bands in the United States. In 2003, they released their ninth album, 24 - a compilation of their 24 consecutive No. 1 radio singles. To this date, no band in any genre has matched this record. As of 2006 the girls have 27 No. 1 radio singles.

Point of Grace got its start at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Denise Masters, Terry Lang and Heather Floyd, who knew each other from Norman, Oklahoma, coincidentally found themselves at OBU, and naturally got involved in music. They sang in a vocal group called 'The Ouachitones,' which was made up of 14 girls. Within the group, the girls formed a trio, and after a sound check for a Ouachitones performance, the girls were singing a cappella when they were told by an onlooker that they should do something together. Shelley Phillips had come from Little Rock, Arkansas to OBU with a scholarship in vocal performance. She sang in a group called the Praise Singers, made up of four girls and four guys and they traveled around the country performing concerts. She became friends with Terry and Heather through Denise, who was her roommate and sister in the social club Chi Delta. After Heather, Terry and Denise made plans to form a trio and sing together over the summer, Denise went back to her dorm room and excitedly told Shelley about their summer plans. After Shelley suggested that the trio became a quartet, it seemed to be the perfect fit.

They called themselves Say So, taken after Psalm 107:2 where it says, "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so." It truly was a do-it-yourself project, and group's tasks were delegated amongst themselves according to each one's best ability. Heather took care of publicity and album sales, Terry took care of the money, Shelley was in charge of booking and Denise was in charge of all their music. Before their performances, they were the ones who would haul their equipment onstage and set it up. They developed quite a following that summer, and spent the remainder of the year singing every weekend. After many fan requests, they recorded an independent album, and became favorites in the South and Midwest. Despite not seeing a reason to pursue a major record deal, the girls, encouraged by their family members attended the 1992 Music in the Rockies Christian Artists Seminar in Estes Park, Colorado. They wowed the crowd and the judges when they performed "He's The Best Thing" and wound up winning the Overall Grand Prize in the Group competition.

The girls found that, after their performance, there was major record label interest, and by prayerful decision, the group decided to sign with Word Records. They then moved to Nashville to start work on what would become their self-titled debut album.

Twila Paris Wright (born December 28, 1958(1958-12-28) in Fort Worth, Texas) is a Contemporary Christian Music songwriter, author, vocalist and pianist.

Since 1980, Twila Paris has released 22 albums, amassed 33 number one Christian Radio singles, and was named the Gospel Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year three years in a row. Many of her earlier songs such as "He Is Exalted", "We Will Glorify," "Lamb of God," and "We Bow Down," are found in church hymnals or otherwise sung in church settings.

As a child she released her first album, Little Twila Paris, in 1965. The album included songs drawn from among those she sang with her family in their evangelistic outreaches.

Paris released her first full-length album, Knowin' You're Around, in 1980, and along the way she has written books, recorded children's music, and created worship songs. Her song "God Is In Control" won a GMA Song of the Year award in 1995 and her 1992 Sanctuary release won the GMA Praise & Worship Album of the Year. She has won five GMA Dove Awards and three American Songwriter Awards.

She has been referred to as "The Queen of Christian Pop". As of 2009, Grant remains the best-selling contemporary Christian music singer ever, having sold over 30 million units worldwide.

Grant made her debut as a teenager, and gained fame in Christian music during the 1980s with such hits as "Father's Eyes," "El Shaddai", and "Angels". In 1986, she scored her first number one charting Billboard Hot 100 hit song in a duet with Peter Cetera The Next Time I Fall. He's back. Even though his band broke up underneath him, this man has gotten right back out there with a solo album before our tear-soaked tissues could dry up. Pete Stewart is back. Some may know him from the late hard rock band Grammatrain which broke up last fall (hence the tear-soaked tissues). But Pete didn't let that stop him. Only a month or two after the break-up, Pete ventured into the studio with dc Talk's Michael Tait producing, to record his first solo project on Forefront Records.

The ultimate highlight on this project isn't the duet with Michael Tait in "Uphill Battle" (which is fantastic and comes in as a very close second), but is the rocker "Don't Underestimate Me." It's a pop/rock song that sort of carries a "Grammatrain Lite" sort of vibe. An instant favorite.

This album, when I first heard it, didn't seem all too spectacular, but after multiple listens, this project has grown on me and is working its way into my daily CD rotation. It's still not Grammatrain and is still somewhat of a tease to hear Stewart's vocals gracing a completely different kind of musical backdrop. - Review date: 2/14/99, written by John DiBiase

This former member of The Imperials and the Gaither Vocal Band proves on is first solo effort that he can hold his own with no problem! This is pure pop with a fresh sound. The title track "One Love" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 1996 Dove Awards and set the standard for all of his future singles. There are some beautiful slow ballads on this album (i.e. I Rely On You) that showcase Jonathan's amazing vocal ability. Stevie Wonder's "Heaven Is Ten Zillion..." is a perfect mood lifter and though you might find it an odd choice for a "white boy," it works beautifully with the rest of the songs on the album. The most beautiful track is definitely "Healing Hands." This is a wonderful collection of songs in its own right, but it is also a great setup for his other two albums.

"Mission" is Jonathan Pierce's second solo album and it doesn't disappoint. It is more vocally ambitious than "One Love," his first album. A few of the cuts (such as "Hold Me In Your Arms) let us see the fun side of Jonathan's music, while songs like "Farther Than Your Grace Can Reach" show us the softness and power of his voice. His remake of "Praise the Lord" is amazing and "I Belive In Christ" follows in the same vein. My favorite track is "To Be A Christian." This song depicts what being a true Christian is all about. It would have had great potential if it had been released as a single. This is a great album that will encourage the listener to be all they can for God. Enjoy it!

Johnny Q. Public was a Christian alternative rock band from Springfield, Missouri. Although their sound was wholly modern, it was influenced by bands such as Led Zeppelin and Cream. In addition to their music they were known for their Charismatic theology, which they would dramatically display through audience participation at their live shows.

Their follow up record, Welcome to Earth, was released by both Gotee and Roadrunner records.Its sound shifted toward pop with hints of hard rock. HM magazine likened it to the Newsboys, stating that the band could easily receive radio play in both Christian and mainstream markets. In support they toured with Bleach and Skillet.

Johnny Q Public is a band that lays down all its cards. There's no bluffing, no surprises, just a full house of rock burning throughout. After a five-year self-imposed hiatus, the band returns with their sophomore release Welcome to Earth. "Body Be" was actually featured on the now defunct MTV 120 Minutes and finds its re-release here. The cut is a full-throttle joy ride of heavy guitars that features a tasty mid-song breakdown, proving less is actually more. "Already Gone" is well-oiled machinery. Drummer Nathan McCorkle lays out a solid punch. The tune's chorus is engaging, aiding a song brimming with electricity. "Move" chugs along at a steamroller pace. The cut is an example of hard rock/alternative splendor. Vocalist Dan Fritz has an engaging edge while guitarist Shawn Turner peppers the tune with well-placed licks. "P.K." boasts a hypnotic bassline that fittingly drives the song. The cut is one of JQP's heaviest and showcases Fritz's vocals nicely. Individually Johnny Q Public emerges musically competent, but as a whole each band member really cooks. Throughout Welcome to Earth, the band throws out several standard rock riffs that help make the disc potent but not overbearing or cliché. The title track, as with most of Darrell's songs on this album, has an economy of words and is infinitely singable. Both 'Consuming Fire' and 'Jesus, I Come to Follow' have rhythmic grooves and will serve the Sunday morning worship well if done in the same electric style. Kate Miner backs up on both tracks. As far as Darrell's up-tempo songs go, 'Blessed Be the Lord', 'My Everything' and 'Field of Grace' are all great songs. I especially like 'Fields of Grace'. The song came to Evans as he felt God asking Him to dance with Him. As invasive as this was to his comfort zone, and admitting that he didn't even know how to dance, he did know how to shout and spin around. So he did; he danced with God right there in the end zone of a football field. This is a tremendous song to help break down the walls of pride and self-focus in our lives.

'Exalted' features Charlie Hall on vocals and is a wonderful song with excellent guitar work, and again, simple, but powerful lyrics. 'My Reward' was written and sung by Paul Baloche and is a very melodic, mid-tempo song that props up the eternal rewards against the temporal ones. This song is a definite keeper. This marvelous work will give the worship leader some diverse material from which to choose. It will also serve well as private worship in the home, car, etc… This CD and its live performance make this great project to buy. Get it now while the supply lasts! - Review by John Ausmus Inc.

Keith Gordon Green (October 21, 1953 – July 28, 1982) was an American gospel singer, songwriter, musician, and Contemporary Christian Music artist originally from Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York. Beyond his music, Green is best known for his strong devotion to Christian evangelism and challenging others to the same. Often considered controversial for his frequently confrontational lyrics and spoken messages, some notable songs written by Green and/or his wife, Melody Green, include "Your Love Broke Through," "You Put This Love In My Heart," and "Asleep In The Light." Green is also known for numerous popular modern hymns, including "O Lord, You're Beautiful" and "There Is A Redeemer."

In 1975, the Greens began an outreach program in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California, in the San Fernando Valley. Purchasing the home next door to their own and renting an additional five in the same neighborhood, Keith and Melody provided a environment of Christian teaching for a group of young adults, the majority of whom were of college age. Much to the consternation of neighbors, those living in the Green's homes included former drug addicts, the homeless and even some prostitutes who had been referred to the Greens by other ministries and shelters. In 1977, the Greens outreach was officially named Last Days Ministries.

Keith Green's initial tone of ministry was largely influenced by Leonard Ravenhill, who pointed Keith to Charles Finney, a nineteenth century revivalist preacher who preached the law of God to provoke conviction in his hearers. During his concerts he would often exhort his listeners to repent and commit themselves more wholly to following Christ. Green later softened his approach, and this transition is evident in his music beginning with So You Wanna Go Back To Egypt in 1980. He described the changes he went through in his next-to-last article for the Last Days Magazine.

You may ask, what is a commission? It is a paid request. It's where you pay the artist to draw what ever you like, it can be Bible Characters, Superheroes, Fan art, etc...

Commissions and Information – Rates and Service

We have updated our commission rates. We have researched and checked the regular prices and did comparisons to others so the prices we have listed are fairly reasonable. While others charge $200 for a cell shaded picture, not including the additional characters, we have made our prices affordable for the work involved.

Some commissions are expensive because once you get a copy of your commissioned work, you can do what ever you want to it, make different prints for example.

Artwork will be on 11 X 14 Glossy Paper and 1 CD-ROM that will include the illustration at 200-300DPI [about 3000+ pixels] for larger printing, you can make it to a poster if you like and it won't even lose quality and turn around time is approximately 2-4 weeks for most commissions and depending on workload.

Commission art can consist of Comic Book Characters, Bible Characters, etc. with a child or person’s name, personalized message or bible verse.

Method of Payment

We ONLY to accept Paypal and will start the commission as soon as we receive a payment. Do not pay us unless we confirmed that we will do your commission.

Once a commission work is in the final drafts, you will be emailed a low-resolution image as proof and kept in contact concerning the progress by email or phone.

Payments that are received first will obviously have the handicap of getting their commission first. We work in a "1st come, 1st serve" basis.
