DAVID AND THE GIANTS

Beginning as a rock band in Laurel, Mississippi, the Huff brothers - David, Clay, and Ray - with Jerry Parker on drums, toured the Southeast during the 1960s as David and the Giants. In 1977 they switched to a Christian rock format. They continued to sing and record together through 1999. Recording and performing together for almost 40 years, the band released 17 albums. Though the band's style has been compared to that of Mylon LeFevre and Broken Heart, their most commercially successful work came in the 1960s with a sound, augmented by The Muscle Shoals Horns, that closely resembled that of Jay & the Techniques

In 1977, the band members converted to Christianity. That same year they released their first Christian album, Song of Songs. Released without label support, it contained ballads and a mixture of pop rock. Their second album, This One's For You had a similar sound. Two years later, the band recorded Step in My Shoes. Devoid of up-tempo songs, the album was not commercially successful. For their fourth album, the band returned to a sound much closer to their musical roots. Almost Midnight, a rock album, was more successful than the first three. They continued with that sound for their fifth attempt, entitled Heaven or Hell.

Benny Hester - “Remember Me” Lyrics:

It's eight o'clock, and I'm scared as I can be,
Just thinking as I stand outside your house,
It's been ten years if it's been three,
Walk up to your door and start to knock.
It flies open in my face,
All that I can say is the only words that come into my mind...

Remember me?
I'm the one that hurt you,
Remember me?
I'm the one that left you all alone,
Remember me?
Yes, I'm the one that stole your happiness,
And there's something I've got to say now that I'm getting things right,
Something I got to ask of someone else tonight.

I've taken and taken what never belonged to me,
I'm a thief and I'm guilty,
Though I don't deserve a thing, when you come into your kingdom, Jesus, remember me.

Remember me,
Remember me.

Tonight's the night to tell you,
Oh, he has gripped your soul and brought you here,
Remember back when you and, we I hurt each other so,
So, there's something I've gotta say now that I'm getting it right,
Forgiveness I've got to ask from God himself tonight.

I've taken and taken what never belonged to me,
I'm a thief of the worst kind,
And, though I don't deserve a thing, remember me,
Lord, when you come into your kingdom, remember me.

No, I've never cried out for much mercy,
And now in this moment I've found it.

Remember me,
End this pain and suffering,
Remember me,
Forgive the past, and on this very day....

I will be with you in paradise,
I will be with you in paradise,
I will be with you in paradise,
I will be with you in paradise,
